e all got together this winter with family and friends for a special snowmobiling outing. Our destination was the Box Y Guest Ranch located high (at 7000 feet) between the Salt River and Wyoming Mountain Ranges, 28 miles up the Greys River Road. It was the first time snowmobiling for a couple of us, but after we got a few miles under our belts, it was amazing how easy it was to get out into the middle of nowhere and enjoy the vastness of our national forest lands.
A warm fire and a hot meal were waiting for us when we arrived at the Box Y. It is a gorgeous setting along the river with a main restaurant and lodge cabin, and eight rental cabins. After the warm-up we were offered a special treat. A chance to feed the elk at the Forest Park feed grounds. 1000s of elk migrate there in the fall and are fed by the WY Game & Fish. After, we headed to Blind Bull, which opens up into miles of varied terrain for all riders. 360° mountain views, peaks as far as you can see, it was amazing.
We stayed the night - sharing stories around the cabin fires. The second day was spent riding the trails and venturing off trail to play in the powder. We are fortunate to have this in our 'backyard'. The sun was setting as we loaded up the sleds. Arriving home tired and satisfied, we reflected on how great it was to get out and take advantage of the beautiful Wyoming winter.
